Whether you want to lose weight, make more money, quit smoking or simply enjoy life more in 2011. Here is a list of 14 tricks I use to help someone stay on track. I hope it serves you well:

  1. Do what you know works best for you (People generally know, it’s the “doing” that’s the hard part)
  2. Think in terms of action steps. What are the 3 action steps you need to take?
  3. Know what the destination looks like for you when you get there
  4. Get inspired to change, search for inspiration through people, movies, books, videos. You need to be emotionally committed.
  5. Break your action steps down into even smaller chunks so it doesn’t look so scary
  6. Make room for the actions by scheduling them in your calendar
  7. Put your identity and image on the line (Why not start a blog?)
  8. Tweak your environment to make it easier  for yourself
  9. Create small habits
  10. Get your friends involved with you
  11. Ask someone to hold you accountable
  12. Track your progress but don’t worry about it, worry about completing action steps
  13. Give yourself a reward when you reach specific targets
  14. Give yourself a punishment if you don’t follow through on an action step
  15. I believe in you, you should too
