Finding Joy in Uncertain Times – From Wellington Trainer & Manager, Catherine Marion
Staying healthy is key during these new and challenging times. We know we need to keep moving, and get enough sleep and eat right… but finding joy will be as crucial to our mental health as exercise is to our physical health.
This time of year usually brings about patio lunches, gardening, and Easter dinner with family. The good news? Social distancing doesn’t mean you have to miss out on these!
Whether you have a large backyard or a small balcony, you can still sit outside to have your lunch. You may not be able to buy new plants yet, but you can start clearing your garden. And why not connect through Zoom or Skype or FaceTime with those you’d normally spend time with?
On your next essential trip to the grocery store, maybe you can buy a new temporary hair colour, or a new nail polish or even fresh flowers for your home. Maybe deep cleaning your car, inside and out, is what brings you joy. Hey, maybe you’ve been meaning to rearrange your kitchen/garage and finally have the time!
While we stay home and do what’s right for our community, both locally and globally, try to remember all of the small things that bring you joy and find a way to incorporate them in your day-to-day life, because your individual wellbeing matters too!
